CPT swell

Swell from the sounding, the day of the work.

BLACKLAND reads Tip resistance and Sleeve friction from a CPT file, converts both to tsf, and applies one swell equation at each depth. Method 1 is Hampton Inn. Method 2 is HEB Irving. Value to carry is the swell supported by the stronger fit.

How to use it

  1. Upload one sounding or a whole set. Use a CPT file, or a CSV with depth, tip, and sleeve. Save an Excel file as CSV. A PDF is not read.
  2. Read each depth. Each depth shows Method 1, Method 2, and Value to carry.
  3. Choose a cover, a letter, both, or neither. The letter window opens when you choose it. The date is filled in and you can change it. Paste the Outlook email in the letter, signature included. Print PDF for the sounding on screen. Print every CPT starts each sounding on its own page.

Expansive soil chart

Cone resistance and skin friction.

This chart is Ismail and Gasmelseed, 1988. Upload the raw sounding. Blackland reads the tip and the sleeve and plots them in kilograms per square centimeter. The zone is how expansive that chart says the soil is.

How to use it

  1. Add a pass for each sounding. There is no limit on the number of passes. Remove takes that one chart off. Clear takes every chart off.
  2. If that file name is already on the page, or every reading matches a chart already here, the page leaves that file off and says why.
  3. Type the chart name. The page suggests CPT before water injection, or CPT after pass 1. You can type any name.
  4. Read the zone at each foot. Low, medium, high, or very high.
  5. Print all prints two pages for each chart. The first page is Figure 1 with the chart. The second page is Table 1 with the notes. The next chart is Figure 2 and Table 2.

Each pass is one more sounding. A file already on the page, or a file with the same readings, stays off.
